GUEST SUMMARY:
My panel/presentation specialty is taking existing garments/found items and repurposing or reconstructing them into Steampunk gear, masks, art and costumes with the most basic of tools and elements. It has been referred to as “no-sew, low-pro” costuming as I will use safety pins, key rings, wire, grommets etc. to build stage-worthy costuming. My goal is to encourage panel attendees to try their hand at creating some of their own gear or costuming, to give them some confidence that even artistic vision can be realized with small resources. I am also a professional public speaker and work regularly with broadcast media. I’m very comfortable on stage as an emcee and interacting with audiences. My costumes are typically recognized within the Steampunk community as they are part of a series of Automatons (each with specific functions). The vintage items incorporated and altered into the automaton’s gear reflect the automaton’s purpose. The masks are completely handcrafted with found items and created as individual works of art.
